William Tobolt first came to Minnesota in 1914 on the train from Freeport, IL, with his cattle and some machinery.
1928
Tobolt Seed has been a family owned business for over 80 years, started by William’s son, Harold Tobolt in 1928.
1962
It was then passed down to Harold’s son, John, after he finished college in 1962.
2002
In 2002, to enhance the operation, we added a new seed plant and warehouse designed by John’s sons, Scott and Steve.
2003
Scott passed away in 2003 due to an accident. John’s son, Steve, now operates the plant.
2011
A treating system for all crops was added in 2011. We also added two cleaners that are available to clean the seed.
TODAY
Today our company processes and sells wheat, barley, oats, and soybeans. We are a full service company contracted with growers to produce high-quality seed. We also have the ability to load shipping containers in 15 minutes for exporting goods to Japan.
