Wheat

Bolles

A promising hard red spring wheat released by the University of Minnesota’s Agricultural Experiment Station in January 2015. The variety’s outstanding characteristic is its very high grain protein content in combination with above average yield potential, a difficult combination to achieve. Bolles is a mid-to-late maturity hard red spring wheat variety with high baking quality and competitive grain yields, in addition to very high grain protein content. Over the last three years it showed excellent leaf rust resistance and moderate resistance to Fusarium head blight and bacterial leaf streak. Bolles also has excellent preharvest sprouting resistance.

Linkert

A mid-maturity hard red spring wheat with excellent straw strength, high grain protein content, and very competitive grain yields. Linkert has moderate resistance to Fusarium head blight and prevalent races of leaf rust. It is resistant to pre-harvest sprouting and has good end-use quality characteristics. Released by the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station in 2012.

Licesne required for seed production. PVP (94) Title V is contemplated.

Shelly

A hard red spring wheat well adapted to cultivation in Minnesota and the spring wheat growing regions on North Dakota and South Dakota. It has high grain yields comparable to the highest yielding varieties but at a higher protein level. Grain has good end-use quality and can be used in the milling industry domestically and for export. It has moderate resistance to bacterial leaf streak, fusarium head blight and leaf rust and excellent resistance to stripe and stem rust. Shelly has good test weight and pre-harvest sprouting resistance. PVP(94) Title V is contemplated.

Maturity rating, height and lodging score is similar to Rockford but Deon has a better resistance to barely yellow dwarf virus. It also has highly effective crown rust resistance and reistance to smut. Release by the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station in 2011.

Licensed required for seed production. PVP (94) Title V is contemplated.
